Open Letter to Orange County Komen for the Cure

For details on the grants that Orange County Komen for the Cure is giving to Planned Parenthood, please see http://www.lifenews.com/state3673.html

Below is the letter I sent to Orange County Komen for the Cure. Lisa Wolter is the Executive Director. Erin Touslee is the Programs and Grants Director.

Dear Ms. Touslee and Ms. Wolter:

My wife's family has a history of breast cancer, so it is a disease that I am concerned about. I appreciate the work of Susan G. Komen for the Cure in fighting breast cancer.

I recently read about your Orange County affiliate giving large grants to Planned Parenthood of Orange County and San Bernardino County. As I'm sure you aware, Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in the United States. I am aware that they also offer other health services. But many other organizations offer health services to women, without being involved in the abortion industry.

I am dismayed by your contributions to Planned Parenthood for two reasons.

First, funding abortion for any non-health-related reason (as Planned Parenthood doesn't require any health reason to perform an abortion) is ethically unconscionable. It certainly does not fit with the stated goals of your foundation. Rather than helping women's health, you are destroying the lives of humans in utero, and simultaneously exposing women to the potential health risks of abortion.

Second, I am sure you are aware of the risk factors for breast cancer. Women who have been pregnant but have never carried a baby to term are at higher risk than women who have carried a baby to term. That is true whether the pregnancy was ended by spontaneous abortion (miscarriage) or an abortion procedure. I know that some studies have questioned this link. But until the link is completely disproven, how can your organization fund an organization that specializes in a procedure that may increase the risk for breast cancer?

As long as your foundation continues to fund Planned Parenthood, I will avoid buying products that benefit your foundation, because I don't want my money going to harm women--or babies. Women's health is too important to play politics with the funds that are given to save women's lives.

Please put women's health first, and stop funding Planned Parenthood.

Sincerely,
Wesley Wilson
President

Abortion: The Ultimate Cover-up

Crisis Pregnancy Centers often receive phone calls from people seeking abortion. I answered such a call recently from a woman who was calling on behalf of her married daughter.

I asked if the daughter had received a medical pregnancy test and an ultrasound to verify that it was not a tubal pregnancy—services that we offer at no cost. The caller was impatient. "You don't understand. This isn't her husband's baby. She has to have an abortion. She doesn't have a choice."

Stories like this are all too common. Some women who use abortion to cover up infidelity schedule an abortion for a week when their husbands are on a business trip.

It's not just women who cover up immorality with abortion. Abortion is the favorite tool of child molesters and rapists.

There's the 27-year-old Florida high school drama teacher Andrew Foster who was having sex with students and used abortion to hide the crime when he impregnated an 18-year-old.

In Connecticut, Adam Gault, 41, has been charged with the kidnapping and sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl. He tried to hide that crime with an abortion performed by a Planned Parenthood clinic.

Earlier this year Michael Britt, 43, a Connecticut abortion clinic janitor and owner of a modeling agency, lured teenage girls into having sex with him in order to become models. He reportedly took a 14-year-old and a 17-year-old to the abortion clinic to cover up his crimes.

That case came on the heels of another Connecticut case where 22-year-old Kevon Walker impregnated his 14-year-old girlfriend three times in six months, and ended each pregnancy with abortion.

John Blanks, Jr., of Ohio used abortion to cover up his incestuous sexual abuse of his daughter.

In most, if not all, of these cases, the abortion clinic has failed to report the sexual abuse of minors as required by most states, enabling the abuse to continue.

Abortion is the ultimate cover-up of sexual crimes and immorality. Perhaps that's the biggest reason its supporters fight to keep it legal. Andrea Dworkin, a leading feminist, wrote in Right Wing Women:
In the garden of earthly delights known as the sixties counterculture, pregnancy did intrude, almost always rudely;...one of the real obstacles to female [immorality] on male demand....It was the brake that pregnancy put on [immorality] that made abortion a high-priority political issue.
Or put another way, abortion is the insurance policy of the sexual revolution.

It's past time to liberate women from the abuse of men who cover up their crimes with abortion.

Recycled Chinese Slogans Could Help 'Pro-Choice' Cause

According to a recent LifeNews article, China is changing its slogans for its family-planning programs, which include a one-child-per-family policy enforced by compulsory abortions and sterilizations. The slogans are part of an ongoing effort to improve China's image as a brutal, repressive, Communist regime as it prepares to host the 2008 Summer Olympics. Somehow the emperor's new clothes don't hide the truth any better.

In the interest of multi-culturalism and saving the planet through recycling, I'd like to offer some of the discarded Chinese slogans to the "pro-choice" protesters who are always looking for a new slogan to make abortion look less like killing babies. As China is no longer using these slogans, I'm sure it wouldn't sue for copyright violation. Isn't copyright violation China's national sport anyway? Maybe they will add that to the Olympics next year.

Anyway, these discarded slogans are now available to our friends at Planned Parenthood:
  • "Raise fewer babies but more piggies." We could update that for our culture to "Fewer babies means more money! (at least for abortionists)."
  • "One more baby means one more tomb." No change needed here. In fact, this would be a great selling point! Just tack on, "We will throw your baby in the dumpster for free--no tomb needed!"
  • "Houses toppled, cows confiscated, if abortion demand rejected." This is my favorite "pro-choice" slogan, but I'm having trouble updating it for our culture. Perhaps "Will riot if abortion on demand is rejected."
The new Chinese slogans include:
  • "Both boys and girls are parents' hearts." They'd better not use that one here. It sounds as if children might be a good thing!
  • "Mother Earth is too tired to sustain more children." Wait! Isn't that Al Gore's campaign slogan? He needs to sue for copyright violation. But that might interfere with the Chinese division of his campaign fundraising machine. I see his dilemma already.
I hope these slogans help our pro-abortion friends advance the cause of "choice." As China has shown us by example, the only way to control population growth is by forcing "choice" on everyone.

Planned Parenthood Protects Abusers from Women

Planned Parenthood, the great champion of women's rights, was caught harming women for profit again. LifeNews.com reported two separate incidents--one in Ohio, the other in California--on May 10th.

A teenage victim of incest is suing a Cincinatti Planned Parenthood for failing to report her father's sexual abuse to authorities, as required by Ohio law. LifeNews reports that the suit alleges she told the clinic staff about the crime, and "Planned Parenthood's failure to report the incest to police resulted in another 18 months of sexual abuse at the hands of her father."

In another report, workers at a Santa Monica, California, Planned Parenthood, told a girl posing as a 15-year-old who had been impregnated by a 23-year-old that if she were 16 they wouldn't need to report the statutory rape. She claims they told her to "figure out a birth-date that works" so they could perform an abortion without getting her boyfriend in trouble.

I'm just glad Planned Parenthood stands ready to protect women from exploitation. Aren't you? Maybe their protection of women is the reason our government gives them $272.7 million of our tax money per year.

Taxed for Death

I filed my income tax return last week. Of course I'm looking forward to getting a small portion of the taxes I paid back, but that doesn't make me like them. While I dislike paying taxes as much as the next guy, I do recognize the need for taxation and the benefits received. We must fund our courts, prisons, and military if we want freedom and security.

It's the funding for various social programs that upsets most people. Emily Bazelon wrote a bias-filled pro-abortion article in the New York Times Magazine lately, questioning the existence of Post-Abortion Syndrome. She wrote: "[T]he Bush administration, in its first four years, spent more than $30 million on the 50-some crisis pregnancy centers [that receive federal funds], according to a report by Representative Henry A. Waxman, a Democrat from California."

That sounds like a lot of money, even if it was spread over four years ($7.5 million per year on average)--at least until you find out that Planned Parenthood received $265.2 million in taxpayer funds in 2004 alone. (Bazelon's article didn't mention that detail.) Planned Parenthood is, of course, Big Abortion, reportedly killing 244,628 babies by surgical abortion in 2003. That number does not include other forms of abortion or referrals to non-affiliated clinics.

While federal funding for neither the social programs of crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs) nor Planned Parenthood is strictly constitutional, I would much rather fund CPCs that provide vital services to their communities than Planned Parenthood.

Of course the current debate on embryonic stem cell research is also about taxpayer funding, not over its legality.

The pro-life side wants to defund Planned Parenthood, and the pro-abortion side wants to defund CPCs. Fine. Let's defund all the social programs funded by the government and allow individuals to keep and give more of their income. The people of God have taken care of the needy long before the government starting helping (and mismanaging). And if liberals want to fund Planned Parenthood, pornography masquerading as art, and needle exchange programs, let them do it with their money, not yours and mine.

I don't hear politicians talking this way. They win points by promising to give more money to the programs voters like. Whichever political party returns to the conservative principles of limiting the role of government will at least gain support from the libertarian middle.

Instead of splitting our tax dollars 97-3 between support of death and support of life lets stop playing tug of war over the checkbook and empower the American people to support the causes of their consciences. But don't expect this Congress to do it.

Wesley Wilson
